RIP Uncle Dave

This morning they pulled him off of the ventilator and provided him with medication to comfort him. At least one of the docs on the team has been a friend of his for over 10 years.

He continued to breath on his own for about 7 hours, then he was done.

All this after 9 weeks in the ICU. It's not like it snuck up on us.

I should be relieved for him, but as I write this, hiding in my little cubicle, I feel like crying. I am crying.

I can't imagine what it's like for his wife and kids. I'll be calling them tomorrow.
